A fifth former member of the Baltimore City police Gun Trace Task Force is expected to plead guilty.

Sgt. Thomas Allers is due in federal court Wednesday at 2:30p.m. for a rearraignment where he is expected to change his plea to guilty.

He was the officer in charge of the task force from 2014 to 2016. Allers is accused of stealing up to $66,000 from residents over several years and filing false police reports to cover it up.

Seven other members of the task force have been indicted on similar charges, as well as selling drugs seized by police and overtime fraud. Four have already pleaded guilty. Another officer in Philadelphia, who used to work in Baltimore, has also been indicted in the case.
