A Baltimore City police officer shot a dog while trying to serve an arrest warrant Sunday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 400 block of S. Smallwood Street to serve the warrant, when the dog ran out of a house towards the officers and an officer opened fire.
Animal Control was called to the scene where they rushed the dog to receive medical treatment, but was later euthanized because of its injuries.
The officer was sent to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained from a fall during the incident. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
