The subject of the Serial podcast will appear in court next week for post-conviction proceedings.
The hearing for Adnan Syed, who is serving a life sentence for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, will be held in Baltimore City Circuit Court from Feb. 3-5.
Syed's case received national attention in 2014 when Sarah Koenig, host of Serial, investigated it for the podcast's first season. It quickly became the most popular podcast of all time.
Koenig raised questions about a witness who supposedly had an alibi for Syed, but was never contacted by his defense attorney. She also probed the unreliability of the cellphone records that were used to put Syed in Leakin Park, where Lee's body was found, the night of the murder.

Last November, a judge granted Syed’s motion to re-open post-conviction proceedings.
