BALTIMORE, Md. — Police say 21-year-old Kevin Dix was gunned down Wednesday night in a quiet neighborhood near the campus of Morgan State University.

At a little after 10:20 p.m., officers were called to the 3400 block of Mary Avenue for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Dix suffering from multiple gunshots to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, Morgan State University President David Wilson posted on Facebook that Dix was a music major in the College of Liberal Arts. Wilson also asked that people extend their sincerest condolences to the Dix family and to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

"I will say that when I think of Kevin I got a smile because whenever you saw him he had such a cheerful smile. Many of our students here at Morgan have to work; he worked a lot. He work to make sure that he did not miss a Morgan State University choir event if he could," said Eric Conway, Morgan State Choir Director.

Conway says the choir has a concert in Philadelphia on Sunday, and they will recognize the life of Kevin Dix at that concert.

This incident is currently being investigated by Baltimore City Police, but counselors in the Morgan State University Counseling Center are available for students who need assistance. The center accepts walk-ins and calls at (410) 885-3130.
