It was a violent start to the weekend in Baltimore as police investigated several shootings between Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Three people were killed and six others were injured in the shootings, including a 9-year-old girl.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the scene of a shooting in the 2400 block of Barclay Street in northeast Baltimore.
When they arrived, police found 45-year-old Kirk Butler suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to John Hopkins Hospital where he died.
A 9-year-old girl was also injured in the shooting and was taken to an area hospital to be treated for an apparent graze wound to her lower body. She has since been released from the hospital.
Police have released a short video captured by Citiwatch cameras of two people running in the area of Barclay street around the time of the shooting.

Clifton Avenue homicide
Around the same time, Baltimore police started investigating a separate deadly shooting in southwest Baltimore.
Officers learned 23-year-old Romel Simms and three friends were standing in the 3800 block of Clifton Avenue when a dark gray, four-door, newer model Buick with tinted windows pulled up to them.

A man got out of the front passenger seat, ran up to Simms shot him multiple times, then ran away. Simms, who lived in the 1900 block of West Fayette Street, died of his injuries.

Fortview and Elrino homicide
Around 11:07 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the 6100 block of Plantview Way in the southeast district to investigate reports of shots fired in the area.
When they arrived, officers found 26-year-old Thomas Meehan of Dundalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Bayview Medical Center where he died.
Detectives learned Meehan was near the playground in the 6100 block of Fortview Way and Elrino Way when he was shot.

Kennedy Avenue shooting
Around 12:10 a.m. Saturday, a shooting was reported in the 2000 block of Kennedy Avenue.
Police learned a 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were sitting on the steps of a vacant building in that block when someone shot several times, hitting them.
The woman had been shot in the arm and the man sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to an area hospital and are expected to recover.

Ridgehill Avenue shooting
Another shooting was reported about an hour later, around 1:13 a.m., in the 2100 block of Ridgehill Avenue in the city’s western district.
A 20-year-old man told police he and a friend were sitting on steps in that block smoking marijuana when they saw two men run toward them from a nearby alley. As they men came closer, they announced a robbery and the 20-year-old and his friend started to run.
The victims said one of the robbers pulled a gun and shot him in the upper, left thigh.

North Mount Street shooting
About a half an hour later, around 1:45 a.m., officers in west Baltimore heard a single gunshot in the 1000 block of North mount Street.
Officers soon found a 25-year-old man bleeding from both legs, sitting on the steps of the Western District station house. The man only said he had been shot in that block.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

South Monastery Avenue shooting
Around 3:20 p.m. officers were called to Saint Agnes Hospital to investigate after a shooting victim walked into the hospital.
The 34-year-old man told police he was walking in the 200 block of South Monastery Avenue, waiting for a friend to pick him up, when he saw two men arguing near the intersection of Old Frederick Road.
The victim said around that same time, his ride arrived and as he opened the car door he heard a single gunshot. Once inside the car, he realized he had been shot in the leg and the victim’s ride took him straight to the hospital.
