BALTIMORE — A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in a New Year’s Day 2019 murder, one of two that started a year and a month that have seen 25 people killed in the city to date.

Gilbert Della, of the 3100 block of Longview Street, was picked up without incident in the 200 block of N. Wickham Street at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday by a Warrant Apprehension Task Force, Baltimore Police said. He was wanted in the killing of 28-year-old Ikeem Issac.

On Jan. 1, Issac was killed while walking in the 4900 block of Frederick Avenue, police said. Homicide detectives investigated and learned a male suspect was seen getting into a silver Honda and fleeing the area. Using additional witness interviews and physical evidence, Della was identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Della is charged with first-degree murder. He was taken to Central Booking and denied bail.
