A 15-year-old male has been charged as a juvenile with abduction and harboring a child under the age of 16 after police say he stole a car with an 11-month-old boy inside.

Baltimore Police said Thursday the teen, of the 2800 block of Pelham Avenue, was taken into custody by officers and detectives who were searching the area.

No charges have been placed against the mother of the 11-month-old.

Baltimore Police said a 2009 Suzuki was stolen from the 400 block of Kane Street at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the child's mother was unloading groceries the vehicle.

Police said a teenager jumped in the vehicle and drove north.

An AMBER alert was issued about 3 p.m. Wednesday, and police found the child, Leo Garcia Lopez, in his car seat on the sidewalk in the 3900 block of Shannon Drive in northeast Baltimore about an hour later.
