ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A reported shooting near Georgetown East Elementary School prompted Annapolis Police to assist with the dismissal of the school day.

According to police, officers were called for a reported shooting on Wednesday afternoon in the unit block of Bens Drive when they found a man suffering from a gunshot. The man was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.

In an effort to keep everyone safe, officers stayed at the school until the end of the school day to help with dismissal.

Detectives are currently investigating the shooting incident.
