A new twist on an old scam is surfacing in the Annapolis area.
In the past week, two local landscaping companies were contacted by phone or email asking to do work at homes in Annapolis.
They told the landscapers they wanted the work done before they moved into their homes, but the scammers really had no connection to the homes.
The companies then got check by mail for the amount billed and was asked to transfer extra money into another bank account.
