Annapolis police have charged Barnabas Offer Jr. with murder following the death of Michael Covert.
Police responded to a double shooting on September 20 on the 1100 block of Madison St. Upon arrival, officers found Covert, 36, and Lashira Addison, 41, suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to police, Offer had barricaded himself inside a home at Route 214 at Oak Lane in Edgewater, just before 11:00 that night. Police arrested Offer early Thursday morning and charged him with two counts of attempted murder and other related charges.

Covert died from his injuries on September 21. Addison was released from the hospital. Police announced that were working on additional charges for Offer since Covert’s death.

Offer was officially charged with murder on Tuesday. He was additionally charged with attempted first and second-degree murder of another victim who was shot at, but not struck. Offer also faces 10 other charges and is being held without bond.
