Human remains found along Md. Highway by Maryland State Police

Maryland State Police said a decomposed body was found along the side of an Anne Arundel County highway.

 

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, a motorist stopped on the shoulder of the inner loop ramp of I-695 to Route 10 south. While out of the vehicle the motorist saw what appeared to be human remains down the embankment and called 9-1-1.

Maryland State Police responded to the scene.

Police discovered a fully clothed decomposed body lying on the ground.

No identification was found near the body.

State police are investigating this as a potential homicide.

Transportation officials said that a portion of Rt. 10 could be closed until 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Police have not identified the body and the cause of death is not yet known.

The remains are being sent to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
