After receiving a tip, police with the Anne Arundel County Police Department located human skeletal remains on Monday.

Police found the remains in a wooded area of Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

The remains were recovered and taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. After an examination, the remains were revealed to be that of a young adult male with evidence of trauma. The manner of death was also revealed to be a homicide.

Anne Arundel County Police will work with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and neighboring jurisdictions to identify the remains. Investigators don't know how long the remains had been there but conditions of them suggest the person's death was not recent.
