An Annapolis man will spend 20 years behind bars for selling drugs.

Vernon Johnson was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted of dealing heroin.

In June of 2015, police were called to the Pizza Boli's on Fairfax Road for a report of people dealing drugs out of a car. When they arrived, the car sped off. Police said Johnson threw almost 11 grams of heroin, packed up for sale, out the car window.

Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams said this happened 20-30 days after he was let out of jail for selling drugs.

"He is our professional drug dealer," Adams said. "I'm really grateful that the judge in this case realized that he is a professional drug dealer and really gave a sentence that reflects what  our county thinks about those people."

Johnson had three prior convictions for selling drugs.
