UPDATE: The Portsmouth Police Department says detectives have located 5-year-old Dominique Jarvis and 1-year-old Messiah Jarvis.  They are safe and unharmed.

Police said their mother, 24-year-old Asia Jarvis is not in custody.

Friday, detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department and Virginia State Police issued an AMBER Alert for two children who were taken by their birth mother, police said.

Detectives believe that the children are in immediate danger as long as they remain in custody of their mother. Asia Jarvis is a 24-year-old black woman. She's 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 215 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Asia currently has two active warrants on file for felony abduction.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Asia claimed she would shoot the children if the father did not provide her with money.

According to detectives, 5-year-old Dominique Jarvis and 1-year-old Messiah Jarvis were last seen Friday morning at a home in the 1100 block of Carrington Crescent by their father. The father, who has custody of the children, received a message from the mother that concerned him. He then contacted police.

Dominique was like seen wearing a blue and red shirt and pajama pants. Messiah was last seen wearing yellow and black pants and a white t-shirt.

If you have seen or know the whereabouts of Dominique, Messiah or Asia, please contact the Portsmouth Police Department at 757-393-5300 or Detective A. Mannings at 757-718-6781.
