Queen Anne's County Health Department investigating first possible COVID-19 death

QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY, Md. — The Queen Anne’s County Health Department is investigating their possible first coronavirus death.

According to officials, on Wednesday, April 15, Queen Anne’s County Health Officer Dr. Joseph A. Ciotola was informed of a death in the county related to COVID-19. During the investigation of the death, it was discovered that the patient tested negative for COVID-19 and the death was from natural causes.

Currently, the county Department of Health is working with the Maryland Department of Vital Statistics to correctly amend the death certificate. Until this is completed, the Maryland COVID-19 Data Dashboard will continue to show one death for Queen Anne’s County.
