BALTIMORE — Wednesday was the first day of COVID-19 vaccinations at the University of Maryland Medical Center. 175 employees were vaccinated at the UMMC Downtown Campus and 27 at UMMC Midtown.
According to UMMC, 225 people will be vaccinated over the next two days at the downtown campus.
The Shock Trauma auditorium maintained social distancing and employees went from station to station to prepare for the vaccination.
The vaccine is shipped in a concentrated form. Pharmacy teams were on hand at the auditorium to dilute the vaccine to get it ready for individual doses.
As part of the process, employees made appointments up for their second dose of the vaccine, in about 3 weeks.
