BALTIMORE — As result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Offices will continue providing critical services over the phone, but applications for retirement, disability, and Medicare benefits can be done online here.

If you're unable to complete something online, please find your local field office for information on how to directly contact them.

For those with an in-office appointment already scheduled, Social Security will call you for an over the phone appointment instead. If you have a hearing scheduled, they will call you to discuss alternatives for continuing with your hearing, including offering a telephonic hearing.

Be aware, the call may come from a PRIVATE number.
