BALTIMORE — Last Friday the Baltimore Convention Center's COVID-19 field hospital reached its 20,000th testing milestone.

Nearly 1,300 were given in one day, a state record for walk-up testing.

“Operating a COVID-19 testing site of this caliber requires incredible skill, dedication and commitment,” said Dennis Schrader, Maryland Department of Health Chief Operating Officer. “It’s difficult work, but it has been critical to the state’s ability to keep the pandemic at bay and remain open for business.”

Since June, more than 25,000 COVID-19 tests have been given at the Convention Center.

Overall in Maryland, since the pandemic began 2,324,252 tests have been given -- 1,385,805 of which have come back negative.
