207 COVID-19 cases including 1 death reported in Md. correctional facilities

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Maryland Department of Corrections on Monday released the latest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the system.

So far one person has died and 206 others have tested positive in 15 different correctional facilities, including 49 inmates, 157 correctional officers, and 10 other staff members.

According to the department, 24 of the correctional officers, 15 inmates, and six other staff members have recovered.

The death was an inmate in his 60s, who suffered from serious underlying medical conditions and had been hospitalized for several weeks prior to his death. He was assigned to the Jessup Correctional Institution. Officials haven't released his name, citing privacy laws.
