Apple today revealed several new updates and products, including the iPad Air 2, which is 18-percent thinner than the original.

The newest device has an antireflective coating that aims to reduce reflections by 56 percent. It uses a new generation chip called A8X. The new iPhone uses A8.

The iPad Air 2 will also include Touch ID security, a feature already used on iPhones that allows users to access devices with a fingerprint.

Apple also revealed Retina 5K display for the iMac, which has seven times more pixels than a high definition television, according to the company.

Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering Dan Riccio said the new 27-inch desktop iMac uses the fastest chip, saying it is 45-percent faster than the previous version. It retails for $2,499 and starts to ship today.

The iPad Mini 3 was also announced today. It comes in silver, space grey and gold colors and also features the Touch ID feature.

Apple highlighted its latest operating system for Macs, called Yosemite, which has been made available in the Apple Store today.

Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi said Yosemite OS X provides a "relationship" between Mac and iOS devices in which users can stop a project on one device and pick it up on another. He touted the built-in apps and continuity.

It also includes a new toolbar in the Safari browser, which Apple said will be faster.

Also during today's event, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple Pay will launch Monday. Apple Pay uses iPhones to make credit and debit card payments at retail stores.

Apple also promoted the app Replay, saying the video editing app is designed for those who have little editing knowledge. Replay is free on the app store today.
