Lung cancer is the world’s leading cause of cancer death, affecting more people than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. There are things you can do to help lessen your chances of getting lung cancer or spot it early, when it’s most treatable:

  • Don't smoke or vape
  • Get your home tested for radon
  • Get plenty of fresh air
  • Know your family history and keep up with screenings and annual medical appointments
  • Know the symptoms

The lung cancer specialists at the UM St. Joseph Medical Center's Cancer Institute, a recognized affiliate of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, thoroughly evaluate each patient to properly stage the disease and determine the most effective treatment plan possible.
