The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is excited to partner with WMAR through the Scripps Howard Foundation's "If You Give a Child a Book" campaign.

The Foundation provides an Employee Giving program in which each employee is allowed to direct $20,000 to the nonprofit of their choice (consistent with the Foundation's mission and grant guidelines). This year, one of the Employee Giving grants is being used to provide the "match and more" for Scripps Howard Foundation's "If You Give a Child a Book" campaign.

The books purchased through the donations to the campaign will be placed exclusively in libraries at schools that are already part of the Baltimore Library Project, which the Weinberg Foundation leads in collaboration with nearly 40 partners. The Library Project has provided new or renovated libraries in 15 Baltimore City schools, including staffing and state of the art technology. The Library Project currently serves more than 7,000 students.

Every Library Project library receives thousands of new books for grand opening, but as any librarian or student will tell you, you can never have enough books! This is a wonderful way to infuse our Library Project libraries with new books, and partner with Scripps Howard Foundation in a tremendously exciting national program.
