With most spring team sports canceled, it's a good opportunity for parents to examine their children's sports schedules.
Kids shouldn't play one single sport for more than eight months of the year without a 1-2 month break. They also shouldn't be playing or practicing one sport for a number of hours greater than their age per week. This can contribute to the risk of overuse injury.
If your child is playing sports safely, they should use this time off to stay active and work on strength and flexibility exercises.
