ShareBaby was founded in November of 2014 by three local moms who wanted to meet the desire of mothers to share their new or gently used baby items with the families that need them most. ShareBaby began collecting from friends and family and storing donations in their basements and garages. By the summer of 2015, they had distributed more than 14,000 items to children in need. Now, they distribute more than 50,000 items a month. ShareBaby is also Baltimore's first and only diaper bank, meeting a specific deficiency in public assistance to mother and babies.
With the help of volunteers, contributions from the local community and the support of national partners, ShareBaby has been able to significantly increase its impact on diaper need and material hardship in the lives of families with young children across Baltimore City. ShareBaby has set the goal of distributing 2 million essential items to Baltimore’s neediest young children by the close of 2019.
