Minority Health During COVID

and last updated

The coronavirus is disproportionately impacting minority communities in Maryland. Higher rates of infection and fatality are linked to existing health disparities that affect minority communities. Higher rates of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and asthma that are often associated with minority health, have led to higher mortality rates for COVID-19.

The Maryland Department of Health recommends fighting COVID-19 in your community by wearing a mask in public spaces, staying six feet apart whenever possible, and limiting your exposure. Free testing is available throughout Maryland, with interpretation services in more than 200 languages.
