Many emphysema patients suffer from over-inflated lungs, making it difficult to breath or sustain activity. Endoscopic lung volume reduction (ELVR) is a minimally invasive procedure that allows air to escape from the lung without letting more air in, which helps ease breathing.
While there is no cure for emphysema, ELVR is an exciting, minimally invasive treatment that can help improve quality of life for patients like Earl Brown. Brown is the first person in Maryland to receive the treatment and now is more able to enjoy time playing with his granddaughter and helping his wife Linda around the home.
