The Speak(easy) Howard campaign is a Howard County initiative that helps residents think through their preferences for care, talk about them with loved ones and name a health care agent, the person you choose to make medical decisions if you can’t. The Horizon Foundation is leading the campaign along with many community partners.
Speaking Easy Over Dinner provides a creative way to talk with your loved ones about the things that would matter most to you if a time came when you couldn’t speak for yourself. The hope is that by the end of the dinner, each participant will have talked through their values for living their best lives - even until the end. If they are ready, people can also make everything official and name their health care agent.
Howard County residents can register online for just $1 and a pre-made dinner for four along with guided discussion questions will be delivered to their door on September 30. Then participants can connect with their families, friends and loved ones either virtually or safely in person and walk through the discussion questions in their meal kit.
