Dizziness can range from a mild annoyance to a symptom of a more serious illness.

One of the main causes of dizziness is a drop in blood pressure brought on by dehydration, medications, or a neurological issue. The Neurology Center at GBMC can walk patients through the causes of dizziness and may even be able to treat some cases the same day.

If you have passing dizziness, make sure you are hydrated, and speak with your doctor about the effects of any medication you're taking. If you experience dizziness with stroke-like symptoms such as weakness in the face, arms, and legs, or slurred of difficult speech, seek medical attention immediately.
