In recognition of National Wellness Month this August, Shari Bailey, Founder of Laila’s Gift shines a spotlight on an often-overlooked part of health and wellness: the well-being of family caregivers.
Caregivers frequently place the needs of a loved one ahead of their own, which can lead to chronic stress, exhaustion, isolation, and caregiver burnout. The segment will explore practical and realistic ways caregivers can prioritize their own wellness without stepping away from the people who depend on them.

Viewers will learn simple strategies for managing caregiver stress, recognizing early signs of burnout, building a stronger support network, incorporating respite and healthy routines, and preparing for unexpected situations. The conversation will also explore how community resources and emerging technology can help reduce some of the mental and emotional load caregivers carry.
Based on the founder’s personal journey, Laila's Gift is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for, supporting, and celebrating families raising individuals with hidden and non-visible disabilities, known as “Sunflower Families.” Through community programs, caregiver support initiatives, advocacy efforts, celebrations, and public awareness campaigns, Laila’s Gift works to build more inclusive, compassionate, and supportive communities while empowering caregivers and improving safety and quality of life across the lifespan.
