The recently passed CARES Act, designed to fight the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, is providing direct aid to many Americans in the form of stimulus checks.
While payments are already being distributed, many people are uncertain about how much they may be eligible to receive, if retirees are included, and how and when the payments will be delivered. Households will receive $1200 for each person making less than $75,000 per year. SSI, SSDI, and veteran's benefits recipients do not need to file paperwork to receive their checks.
The CARES act also includes emergency funding for health research, which could lead to treatments and a vaccine for the coronavirus, as well as extra helo for nursing homes.
