7 (cheap) ways to host an epic Super Bowl party

With holiday credit card bills coming in and no end of the year bonus, you may be worried about spending to host a Super Bowl party.

Here are some easy ways to save and still host an exciting game day event.

Don't do it solo
Co-host this event with a friend. That way they not only share in the financial responsibilities but also in the setting up, cleaning up and all the stuff in between.

Invitations: Go paperless
Paper invites are so two decades ago. Social media has many different ways to get your invite out there. Create an invitation on Facebook or go to evite.com and send them through cyber space.

Tell guests it's B.Y.O.B.
Have everyone bring their own beer, soda or other beverages. Trying to plan everyone’s favorite beverage is not only time consuming but can really put a damper on your wallet.

Make it a potluck party
Have everyone bring a favorite appetizer to share — or even ask them to bring two. With so many great dishes coming you will only need to supply some beverages and maybe the tortilla chips for dips.

Don't use paper products
Use your own plates, glasses and utensils. You might have to run the dishwasher and extra cycle, but it will save the money from having to buy products that only get thrown away.

Hit up the dollar store
The dollar store will have a lot of items you can use to decorate for the occasion and even some cheap alternatives to tablecloths, such as wrapping paper. Use your favorite team’s color wrapping paper to cover the tables.

Buy food in bulk
Freeze and reuse the extras later, so nothing goes to waste. Your local Sam’s Club, Gordon’s Food Service or Costco should be your Super Bowl party supply headquarters.
