ARBUTUS, Md. — A police involved shooting in Arbutus left a man dead Wednesday morning.

Baltimore County Police say it happened in the 5100 block of Leeds Avenue.

That's where officers reportedly encountered a man armed with a bow & arrow.

It's unclear what transpired after that, but police say the man's "actions" led to one detective firing and killing him.

Area schools were temporarily placed on lockout status, including Arbutus and Maiden Choice Elementary, and Arbutus Middle.

No officers were injured.

Police are waiting until the man's next of kin is notified before releasing his identity.

The Attorney General's Independent Investigative Division is reviewing the deadly force aspect of the case.
