MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Montgomery County Police are investigating after a child was injured in a shooting on Tuesday.
Officers arrived in the 18600 block of Walkers Choice Road and found a 3-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to police, the wound was self-inflicted.
The child was taken to a local hospital where she underwent surgery. She is currently in recovery.
After receiving a warrant for the home, police found a .40 caliber firearm.
A 15-year-old, who does not live in the home, was charged with possessing ammunition by a prohibited person.
The juvenile was later released to his parents.
