The holiday season is underway and that means travel headaches are coming too.
Millions of travelers are set to head out of town for the holidays, and Thursday is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
If you want to skip the traffic also avoid driving or flying on Friday and the Tuesday after Christmas. AAA is estimating that more than 107 million people will be traveling around this time.
For smooth sailing, experts suggest you hit the road on Christmas Eve, Christmas day, or New Years Day, for they are usually less busy.
Get to the airport early! If you are checking a bag it is suggested you give yourself three hours, and two hours if you only have a carry-on. American Airlines says they have seen a significant increase in travel this year, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time.
In the Washington and Baltimore area, 2.6 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more, and 90% of those people will be on the roads, so be sure to pack some extra time and patience this year.
