The Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) is a simple series of questions that anyone can use anywhere in the world to prevent suicide. The US suicide rate is the highest it's been in in over thirty years, with more people dying by suicide than in car crashes.
The stigma surrounding depression can make it hard to ask for help, but depression is a treatable illness.
The C-SSRS can help identify those struggling with depression and get them the help they need. It's easily implemented by schools, police, military, and other groups, and use among these groups has led to a proven impact on suicide rates.
