Despite all of Howard County's strengths, many pressing problems continue to persist, from struggles among lower-income families, barriers to mental health care, environmental issues and others.

The Changemaker Challenge, hosted by the Horizon Foundation and United Way of Central Maryland, is presenting an opportunity for individuals and organizations to tackle issues and pitch their "big idea for social change in Howard County" for a chance to win a grant of $25,000, $15,000 or $10,000. One prize will go toward a project serving people will intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Nine finalists were selected out of 56 applicants and will present their big ideas before judges and a live audience in a Shark Tank-style event on Nov. 11 at the Kossiakoff Center in Laurel.

People can register to attend for FREE and see who will win up to $25k for their big idea. Learn more and get your FREE ticket today to watch them November 11 at the Changemaker Challenge live event: changemakerchallengehc.org.
