If you've been diagnosed with breast cancer before age 50, or have had multiple family members diagnosed with breast cancer, you may benefit from genetic testing.
A simple blood test can determine whether a patient is at genetic risk for breast cancer.
If a patient is found to have the genes that can cause cancer, a certified genetic counselor can help decide the next steps to be taken. These are personal choices that can run from having a mastectomy to increased early testing to medical trials and studies, and sometimes a combination of these.
