What happens when I call?
When you call the Maryland Tobacco Quitline, you will talk with a “Quit Coach”, a professional trained to help you quit using tobacco. Quit Coaches are often former smokers, and will understand what you're going through. Quit Coaches are available 24/7. When you are ready to quit, you and your Quit Coach will work out a personalized plan to quit, which includes counseling sessions, quit guides, and free patches, gum, lozenges (for those 18 years and older while supplies last) mailed to your home. You may also be encouraged to contact your doctor for other medicines that can help you quit, or be referred to smoking cessation support programs in your community. Anything you talk about with your Quit Coach will be kept confidential.
