After decades of research, the treatment of rare diseases is entering an era of great hope. The gene for inherited eye disease can now be identified and targeted for genetic testing.
Laura Manfre is the founder of Sofia Sees Hope, a nonprofit patient advocacy organization dedicated to generating awareness, raising funds for research and providing support, education and outreach to the LCA (Leber Congential Amaurosis) and rare inherited retinal disease community.
