Most teenagers have their own smart phone and there's been a sharp increase in ownership over the last six years.

According to a survey conducted by Common Sense Media, 89% of teens say they have their own phone.

The survey went on to find that while 80% of the teens who participated said they are daily texters, only 47% of them say they are addicted to their phone.

Only 24% of the teens admitted to being addicted to social media. The participants said social media doesn't negatively impact the way they feel.

Snapchat was the most popular social media outlet, with Instagram coming in second.

Common Sense Media surveyed more than 1,100 American teens between ages 13-17.
