Many Marylanders who suffer from mental health or substance abuse issues are having trouble getting affordable treatment.
A new independent study by Milliman, Inc. found Maryland is the third worst state in the nation for access to affordable in-network services.
Researchers looked at insurance claims from 2013 to 2015 and found people in Maryland are seven times more likely to rely on out-of-network options for mental health of substance abuse issues than they are for medical or surgical care.
