Arguments in the Adnan Syed appeal will be heard at the Court of Special Appeals on June 1.
Justin Brown, an attorney for Syed, confirmed it in a Tweet on Tuesday.

In 2000, Syed was convicted in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, and sentenced to life in prison.
His story garnered worldwide attention and popularity thanks to the podcast "Serial" that went back and re-examined the case. Syed has always maintained his innocence.
In 2016, a judge vacated Syed's murder conviction and ordered a new trial on the grounds that his lawyer didn't challenge testimony in the case, specifically relating to cell phone tower evidence. The state is appealing this decision.
In December 2016, a judge denied a motion to release Syed from prison while he waits for a new trial. Earlier this year, the Maryland Court of Appeals said it would allow appeals from both sides to move forward.
