The Prince George’s Fire Department rescued a man who fell into a trench at a construction site Thursday.

It took five hours to pull him out of the 12-foot trench near the city recycling center in Greenbelt.

Rescue teams pumped air into the hole to provide him with oxygen and warmth.

The man was working in the trench when it collapsed and covered him up with dirt.

The man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries to his legs.

He remained alert throughout the rescue and was airlifted to an area hospital.
