Cardinal Shehan School was given a big check thanks to the efforts of some former students.
Bill McAvoy graduated from St. Matthew School, which is now Cardinal Shehan. He planned a reunion last month and decided to collect money for his former school. Alumi from all over the country pulled their resources together and raised more than $7,000.
"It's been a 10 month process and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I would do it again," said McAvoy.
On Wednesday, McAvoy presented Cardinal Shehan Principal Fametta Jackson with the money. "This is a blessing to the school," said Jackson, "it continues to enable us to spread the peace of love and Jesus to everyone we meet."
Jackson plans to use the money raised for tuition assistance.
