LINTHICUM, Md. — With the busy holiday traveling season quickly approaching, BWI Marshall Airport says they're trying to make things a little more convenient for those dropping off or picking up passengers.
From Friday, November 22 through Friday, December 6, and again from Friday, December 20 through Friday, January 3, the airport will offer one hour of free parking for customers who are “in and out” of the Hourly Garage within 60 minutes.
Using the Hourly Garage gives travelers quick access to the airport terminal, and allows them to avoid traffic along the terminal roadway.
But remember, anyone parked beyond 60 minutes will be charged the usual rate, so keep an eye on the clock.
Other ways the airport is trying to relieve holiday traffic congestion includes having all off-airport parking and hotel shuttles drop off and pick up passengers at the upper level/departures level, as opposed to the normal lower levels.
BWI Marshall is also adding about 50 additional spaces to the Cell Phone Lot for drivers to wait away from the terminal until contact is made with arriving passengers.
Aside from MARC and Amtrak train service, the B30 BWI Express Metrobus is also available for passengers needing to use the Washington Metro System.
The MTA also has the route 201 Commuter Bus service, for residents and businesses in Montgomery County, with service from BWI to the Gaithersburg and Shady Grove Metro stations, and other stops.
From November 22 through January 5, Regional Bus Stop No. 1 at BWI will be temporarily closed. Customers should instead use the Regional Bus Stop No. 2, located on the lower level/arrivals level of the roadway, near terminal door No. 18.
Parking along I-195 and the terminal curbside is dangerous and strictly prohibited. Information on all BWI Marshall Airport parking options, is available on the airport’s website at BWIairport.com.
