AAA tow truck driver killed in hit and run while helping disabled car

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WMAR) — Maryland State Police are investigating after a tow truck driver was struck and killed by a hit and run driver while helping with a disabled vehicle.

It happened Wednesday, just after 10:30 p.m. on the southbound shoulder of Branch Avenue near Coventry Way in Temple Hills.

Police say the 63-year-old victim was walking back to his truck to tow the car, when he was hit.

A spokesperson for AAA said the victim was one of their contractors, but didn't release his name.

No information on the hit and run vehicle has been released.
