ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Thursday night, more than 400 singers age 55 and older from around the country will virtually perform a holiday concert titled, Joy!

The musical event will be produced by Encore Creativity for Older Adults, an Annapolis based non-profit.

Several instruments including strings, brass, woodwind and percussion will be used to perform songs such as Deck the Hall, Sleigh Ride, Ose Shalom, and Rise up.

There will also be a rock and roll portion of the show with hits such as I am a Rock by Simon and Garfunkel and North Pole Medley.

To prepare for the big show, singers conducted rehearsals during Encore University's 15-week virtual fall session.

The performance will also highlight a recent AARP survey, that found active musical engagement for those 50 and over is connected to higher rates of happiness and cognitive function.

“We are thrilled to present our first virtual concert and bring joy during this time, as well as share AARP’s important findings of music’s impact on our health,” said Jeanne Kelly, Encore’s Founder and Artistic Director.

The concert is set to begin at 7 pm. Watch for free on Encore’s YouTube or Facebook pages.
