Many small businesses have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. To help ease their burden, FedEx is offering $1 million in grants to small businesses in the United States.

Grant recipients will receive $5,000 as well as a $500 credit from FedEx Office that can be used toward printing banners, posters, floor graphics, custom-branded boxes and more.

“Small businesses are what make our communities thrive, and we want to ensure they have the support they need to get back to business,” Kim Dixon, executive vice president and chief operating officer of FedEx Office, said in a press release.

FedEx announced the #SupportSmallGrants program with a short video posted to Twitter on May 27:

At FedEx, we want to help you to keep business going by committing to provide $1 million in grants,” says FedEx marketing specialist advisor Kelli Martin in the video. “Whether you want to create your online store or enhance your website, buy inventory, pay business rent or pay your staff, we want to help you get back to business.”

In order to qualify, businesses must be based in the U.S., have fewer than 50 employees and have been in business and selling for more than one year. They must also have made less than $5 million in annual sales revenue in 2019 and have shipped in the last 12 months and/or plan to ship in the upcoming 12 months.

Apply online at fedex.com/supportsmallgrants. Applications are open through June 12, 2020. The 200 recipients will be notified by email beginning in July and continuing through September 2020.

Small businesses seeking support amid the pandemic can also visit the FedEx Small Business COVID-19 Resources Page, which includes special offers on printing and shipping, a white paper on how small businesses can adapt during this difficult time, networking support and other tools to help navigate running a small business. The FedEx Small Business Center offers additional supports as well.

In addition to the Paycheck Protection Program, administered through the federal Small Business Administration, there are also a number of loan and grant programs for small businesses offered through state and local governments if you could use a helping hand right now.
