More than 20 years ago, Tupac wrote a letter to his former sweetheart, Madonna, while in jail. Today, the letter has been uncovered and is going up for auction with a starting bid of $100,000.

TMZ published portions of the never-before-seen letter, which revealed that Tupac ended the relationship because of Madonna's race.

"For you to be seen with a black man wouldn't in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting," Tupac writes. "But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my 'image' I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was."

Tupac ended the letter by asking for Madonna's friendship and claiming that he "never meant to hurt" her.

The letter will go up for auction on July 19-28 at Gotta Have Rock and Roll. The starting bid is $100,000 and is expected to go for much more.
