Grant Imahara, known for his roles on Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" and Netflix's "White Rabbit Project," has died, according to a statement from the Discovery Channel. He was 49 years old.

“We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” the statement reads.

Imahara, an electrical engineer, became known for his knowledge of electronics and animatronics. In the 90s and early 2000s, he was a Battlebot competitor, and winner. Later, he spent ten years on the Mythbusters team at the Discovery Channel.

According to the statement from Discovery, Imahara was also one of the few officially trained operators of the famous droid R2-D2, and engineered the Energizer Bunny’s iconic rhythmic beat.

No cause of death was given at this time.
